The anus protrudes when passing stools. Is this a common problem, or is it a sign of a specific medical condition? |

If the anus protrudes when passing stools, it could be a sign of a condition called rectal prolapse. In simple words, rectal prolapse means a part of the rectum (the last portion of the large intestine) is sliding out through the anus, especially during or after passing stools. This may be a sign of a medical condition and should not be ignored. It’s important to see a doctor (preferably a gastroenterologist or surgeon) to confirm the cause and suggest treatment. Possible treatments: Diet changes to reduce constipation (more fiber and water) Avoid straining Pelvic floor exercises In some cases, surgery may be needed if the prolapse becomes severe or frequent In short, this condition is not normal, and it’s better to get it checked early to prevent complications. |
