The most common surgeries are: Laparoscopic Myomectomy (minimally invasive) – Recovery takes about 2 to 4 weeks. Open Myomectomy (abdominal surgery) – Recovery may take 4 to 6 weeks. Hysteroscopic Myomectomy – If fibroids are removed through the vagina without cuts, recovery is faster, around 1 week. Take complete rest for the first week. Avoid heavy lifting, bending, and se-xual activity for at least 4 to 6 weeks. Eat a healthy, fiber-rich diet to avoid constipation. Attend follow-up appointments regularly to monitor healing. If you have any signs of infection like fever, bleeding, or pain, contact your doctor immediately. Pregnancy After Fibroid Surgery: Pregnancy is often possible after fibroid removal, especially if the uterus is preserved (as in myomectomy). However, there are a few concerns: Delay Pregnancy: Doctors usually recommend waiting 3 to 6 months after surgery before trying to conceive, so the uterus heals completely. Cesarean Delivery: Many women may need a C-section if the uterine wall was deeply cut during surgery. Uterine Rupture Risk: Very rare, but if the uterine wall is weak, there's a slight risk during labor. Scar Tissue: Surgery can sometimes cause adhesions (scar tissue), which might affect fertility or cause discomfort. |
