If both your fallopian tubes are filled with water (a condition known as bilateral hydrosalpinx), it can affect your chances of natural pregnancy. The fluid inside the tubes can damage the inner lining and interfere with the movement of the egg and sperm, making it difficult to conceive naturally. As per doctors, laparoscopy is an effective method to treat hydrosalpinx. During laparoscopic surgery, the doctor can: Remove the fluid from the tubes, Open the blocked tubes (salpingostomy), Or, in severe cases, remove the damaged tubes completely (salpingectomy). The choice of procedure depends on how badly the tubes are damaged. If the damage is mild, doctors may try to repair the tubes to improve the chances of natural pregnancy. However, if the tubes are severely damaged, they may be removed to prevent the toxic fluid from affecting the uterus and future embryo development. Can natural pregnancy happen after laparoscopy? Yes, if the tubes are successfully repaired and remain open, natural pregnancy is possible. But this depends on: Your age and overall fertility health, The extent of damage to the tubes, And whether ovulation is happening regularly. If natural pregnancy doesn't happen even after laparoscopy, your doctor might suggest IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). In fact, in cases where the tubes are beyond repair, IVF is often recommended as the best option. In summary, laparoscopy can treat hydrosalpinx and may restore fertility in some cases. However, the success of natural pregnancy depends on the condition of the tubes after surgery. It is important to follow your doctor’s advice and undergo proper fertility testing after treatment. |
