After hernia surgery, if the left testicle becomes swollen, hard, and painful, it may indicate a few possible problems: Swelling due to surgery (post-surgical inflammation) – This is common and usually goes away in a few weeks. Hydrocele – A fluid buildup around the testicle, which can cause swelling and discomfort. Infection (Orchitis or Epididymitis) – This causes pain, redness, and hardness. It needs quick treatment with antibiotics. Reduced blood flow (Testicular ischemia) – Rare but serious. It happens if the blood supply to the testicle is affected during surgery, leading to pain and hardening. Hematoma – Collection of blood in the scrotum after surgery. Treatment depends on the cause: For mild swelling: Rest, ice packs, and scrotal support can help. For infection: Antibiotics and painkillers are needed. For hydrocele or hematoma: It may get absorbed with time, or sometimes needs surgery. If blood supply is affected: Emergency treatment is needed to save the testicle. |
