If a spot appears on your lung X-ray, it does not always mean that surgery is needed. Many times these spots are caused by infection, old healed infection, inflammation, or small nodules, and they may disappear after proper medical treatment such as antibiotics or anti-tuberculosis medication, depending on the cause. Surgery is usually not the first option for lung spots. It is only considered if the spot is suspicious, growing, or causing serious problems.

Before deciding on surgery, your doctor may advise additional tests such as a CT scan, blood tests, or sputum examination to understand the exact reason for the spot. If the spot is due to infection, it often improves or disappears with treatment, and surgery may not be necessary.

Therefore, you should consult a pulmonologist or chest specialist, complete the recommended tests, and then the doctor can guide you about the best treatment. In many cases, proper medication can resolve the infection and the spot may reduce or disappear over time.
