Most ovarian cysts at this size are functional cysts, which means they are related to the normal menstrual cycle and often resolve on their own without treatment. Doctors generally recommend a “wait and watch” approach in such cases. This involves periodic ultrasound scans (every 2–3 months) to monitor whether the cyst increases in size or disappears naturally. Since you are unmarried and young, fertility preservation is an important consideration, so surgery is not usually suggested for such a small cyst unless it shows rapid growth, causes severe pain, or has suspicious features. For symptom relief, if you experience pelvic pain or irregular periods, your doctor may prescribe hormonal medications (oral contraceptive pills) to regulate cycles and reduce the chances of new cyst formation. Alongside, maintaining a healthy lifestyle with balanced nutrition, weight management, stress reduction, and regular exercise helps in hormonal balance. Immediate medical attention is required only if you develop severe abdominal pain, vomiting, fainting, or sudden bloating, as these could signal complications like cyst rupture or torsion. Regular follow-up with your gynecologist is the safest treatment plan. |
