Ovarian Cyst

Dear Doctor, I am a 39 years old female and 8 years ago during birth of my daughter through C-section, I had serious complications. I had total placenta previa and during the operation due to heavy bleeding , my uterus was removed . I had altother 4 operations on stomach within a span of 3 days and I was given 50 bottles of blood. Since 4 years I am having cysts in my right and left ovaries. Intially the cysts were 4-5 cm , now in the ultrasound they are 8-9 cms. In the first two years, doctor tried giving harmonal injection and tablets but now since one and a half year , they are not giving any medication for it and are only monitoring it after every 3 months. They are non cancerous cysts and my OCP test (test to check tumour in ovaries) is done after 3 months and is negative. My doctor here in Germany is recommending a surgical removal of cysts through an open surgery. Considering my history, I want to avoid surgery as much as possible. I dont any have discomfort as such. Things I would like to know from you is. 1. Is surgery mandatory for cyst of size 8-10cm. If yes, can I wait for 3 months ? I would be coming to India in July,can I wait until July or should I get it operated? 2. Can it be cured through medication? I thankyou for your time and looking forward to your opinion. Dear Smriti Gupta, That much big cyst cannot be cured by medicine. Surgery is necessary but you can wait for 3 months. World Laparoscopy Hospital is Specialized centre for the removal of these type of complicated cyst by laparoscopic or robotic surgery. I will advice you to have a consultation with Dr R K Mishra once you come to India. with regard Nidhi |

Dear smriti I'm planning on coming to India in July Also. I have a enlarged right ovary which one had cyst but ovary is still enlarged from 2010. |
