I am going to undergo radiation for prostate cancer for a few weeks, and I also have follicular lymphoma, which is currently under 'watch and wait'. I have been doing fine for the past year. Should I be more concerned about my health now, especially since I have to be around people a few days a week? |

It is important to pay attention to a few key things while undergoing radiation therapy for prostate cancer and managing your condition with follicular lymphoma: Side effects of radiation therapy: Radiation therapy may cause fatigue, skin issues, urinary problems, and bowel disturbances. Discuss these side effects with your doctor and seek advice on how to manage them. Immune system: Both radiation therapy and follicular lymphoma can weaken your immune system. To keep it strong, ensure you eat nutritious food, get enough sleep, and do appropriate physical exercise. Preventing infections: Your immune system may become weak during radiation therapy. Therefore, avoid crowded places, maintain proper hand hygiene, wear a mask, and practice social distancing when needed. Regular check-ups: Have regular check-ups with your doctor to detect any new symptoms or problems early so they can be treated in time. Mental health: Cancer treatment can be mentally challenging. Stay in touch with your family and friends, and seek help from a mental health professional if needed. Consult your doctor: Openly talk to your doctor about all your concerns. They will give you the best advice based on your condition and take the necessary steps to keep you safe. |
